Search continues for payday loan store armed robber

Knox County deputies continue to search for an armed robber of a west Knox County payday loan store.

Just before 5:30 p.m. Monday, a man robbed the Advance to Payday located at 450 N. Cedar Bluff Road. Deputies said this man may have been involved in three robberies that occurred last month in Knoxville. Officials said the suspect could be dangerous.

Local shoe drive helps create small businesses overseas

Soon spring cleaning will hit many households, but an East Tennessee church is asking the community to start cleaning up a bit earlier this year.

St. John Neumann Youth Ministry in Farragut is asking people to look through their closets for old shoes to donate. The collected shoes will be sent overseas to help people in other countries start small businesses. The fundraiser will also help young people in Knoxville attend youth ministry events and camps, along with helping people in other countries become self-sufficient.

Whole Foods set to open March 24

After months of anticipation, we now know when Whole Foods plans to open.

Whole Foods Market announced that its first store in Knoxville will open March 24. For months, the 35,000 square-foot store has been under construction in Papermill Place at 6730 Papermill Drive.

Cargo fire blocks right lane of I-40 E. at Papermill

The cargo of a tractor trailer is on fire on Interstate 40, blocking the right eastbound lane at the Papermill exit.

The fire was reported shortly after 7 a.m. Thursday morning. The Tennessee Highway Patrol estimates that crews will clear the accident by 8 a.m.

Bearden high school counselor honored at White House

(WBIR) First Lady, Michelle Obama, honored a guidance counselor at Bearden High School at a ceremony in Washington today.

Beverly Anderson, who has worked at Bearden HS for the last seven years, was one of 16 counselors selected from around the country as a finalist for the American School Counseling Association (ASCA) National Counselor of the Year award.
