One person injured in a wreck on I-40 E. at Lovell Road

One person was injured in a wreck on I-40 East at Lovell Road on Sunday at approximately 12:20 p.m.

A driver was turning onto I-40 East when he lost control of his Dodge Durango. Next, his SUV struck a tractor trailer traveling eastbound on I-40.

The tractor trailer jack-knifed and blocked one lane of traffic.

Emergency responders transported the driver of the Dodge Durango to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Middlebrook Pike paving causing headaches for some drivers

We've had several viewers ask us about the paving project on Middlebrook Pike in West Knoxville.  Some complained they haven't seen much progress, and were concerned it's taking longer than normal.

We checked in with TDOT for an update.

Crews are working to resurface the approximately nine miles of Middlebrook Pike from Cedar Bluff to Western Avenue. 

First, crews had to remove the current surface, before laying down the new pavement.

Knox County approves a million dollar project for Bob Gray Road

Knox County approved a million dollar project to convert two of the county's most dangerous injections from two way stops into roundabouts.

The county estimated that over three years, there have been more than 40 wrecks at the intersections of Bob Gray Road and Mabry Hood Road, and Bob Gray Road and Kirby Road.

Engineering and Public Works Director Dwight Van DeVate said several studies have shown roundabouts as an effective way to make intersections more safe.

A staple of baby beauty pageants is toddlers in tiaras, glitter, and glamour.

An upcoming pageant stressing a more natural approach.

Summer Blalock is Ms. Tennessee United States, a pageant coach, and a pageant judge.

She started competing in beauty pageants at age 8.

"I was very clumsy and very shy as a child and now that I've done pageants I've completely changed. I'm outgoing, I'm free spirited," Summer Blalock said.

Knoxville TDOT worker in serious condition after work zone accident

A TDOT maintenance worker is in serious condition after being struck by a car Wednesday afternoon.

TDOT spokesperson Mark Nagi says Josh Chesney, 34, of Knoxville, was working on US 11E in Jefferson County when the accident happened.  We're still waiting to get details on what caused the accident from the Tennessee Highway Patrol.

Chesney suffered a broken arm, a broken leg, a cracked pelvis and a fractured skull.  He was flown to UT Medical Center by Lifestar helicopter for treatment.  Nagi says he had surgery on his broken arm last night.

Van crashes into KARM store

A van has crashed into the KARM store on Western Avenue.

KPD says Rebecca Gosnell, 64, was attempting to pull into a parking space in front of the business when she appeared to suffer a medical issue that caused her to lose control of the vehicle.

There were customers and employees inside the store at the time of the crash. No one inside the store was hurt.

Gosnell was transported to the hospital, but to address her medical condition. She did not appear to suffer injuries as a result of the crash.
