Starbucks buys tea chain with East Tenn. location

Coffee giant Starbucks is buying up a nationwide tea chain that includes a location here in East Tennessee.

Teavana has a location in West Town Mall; it's a fairly new store.

On Thursday, Starbucks announced it's buying the entire Teavana chain for $620 million cash.

Teavana currently sells more than 100 kinds of teas in malls and online, and now with the Starbucks deal, it will go global.

Some new tenants are coming to the Northshore Town Center.

Five Guys Burgers and Fries will open another Knoxville-area location at the shopping complex at Pellissippi Parkway and Northshore in West Knox County.

The center will also welcome Uncle Maddio's Pizza Joint, an Atlanta-based chain. Several other stores including a fitness studio, Froyoz, and Great Clips will also set up shop there.

Publix and Target anchor the shopping complex.

Costco opens in West Knoxville

A brand new grocery store and retail chain opened in West Knoxville Friday morning.

Dozens of customers were waiting in line when the new Costco opened at 8:00 am.  Many of them say they have been eagerly anticipating the brand name, bulk foods retail giant.

The 146-thousand square foot facility has everything from electronics, to name brand clothes to food.

This is the fifth Costco in the state, and customers were excited about the new shopping option.

Sassy store Anthropologie to open in Knoxville

Another national store has decided to open it's doors in Knoxville.

Anthropologie has signed on to be in the former Cleveland Smith Interior Building in Bearden. Tony Capiello, whose family has owned the building for about 50 years, says they are "very excited" about the store coming.

The store is hoping to open in April or May of 2013.

Capiello says part of the building used to be a roller skating rink. They are waiting for permit approval to start construction of the building.

Bearden High retires Coach Holly Warlick's basketball jersey

Lady Vols basketball head coach Holly Warlick thought she was simply part of the senior-night festivities at Bearden High School Friday evening.

However, the school had a surprise waiting for the 1976 Bearden grad.

In a ceremony before the game, school officials retired Warlick's number "22" basketball jersey, which she wore during her high school career that racked up more than 1000 points on the court.

"I'm stunned, I'm shocked. I was just coming to greet everybody!" Warlick said. "It's unbelievable."

Cheesecake Factory considers West Town Mall restaurant

Popular California-based restaurant chain Cheesecake Factory is finalizing plans for a location in West Knoxville.

In documents submitted to the Metropolitan Planning Commission, West Town Mall owner Simon Property Group describes a 7,500 square foot restaurant on the Morrell Road side of the mall between the JC Penney store and the Belk Women store.
