HomeGrown: The Black Lillies

From Country Music Television to the Grand Ole Opry, The Black Lillies' Americana sound resonates on radio charts.

"You know when you walk on the Opry stage it's going to be fantastic," said Trisha Gene Brady.

With several Independent Music Awards, their most recent record, "100 Miles of Wreckage" is one of the Top 40 Americana Albums of 2011, pretty remarkable considering the band's only been together four years.

"We've all had our own separate journeys musically and through life and our roads brought us to Knoxville," said Cruz Contreras.

SNL's "The Ladies Man" saunters into Knoxville

Tim Meadows was a skit staple on Saturday Night Live for years. One of his characters was Leon Phelps, The Ladies Man, and this is where the headline comes from.

It is also the voice that I use A LOT around the newsroom. Even Photographer JJ was nice enough to inform Meadows of this.

If you are not an SNL fan, you may have seen him in some movies and on TV, he has a bunch of reoccurring roles on sitcoms.

The Lord's Child collecting donations for Isaac victims

For the next three days, a Sevier County non-profit is collecting water and non-perishable food items for victims of Tropical Storm Isaac.

The Lord's Child will be stationed with a tractor trailer at three area Walmart stores: Sevierville, Turkey Creek, and East Towne. They hope to fill them up to take to Louisiana in the next few days.

One of the organizers, Eric Lambert, has a personal connection to the supplies' destination.

Born and raised in Plaquemines Parish, Lambert still has family there.
