Police: 3 armed men robbed west Knoxville Subway


Police are searching for three men accused of robbing a west Knoxville Subway armed with guns.

Employees told officers that three men armed with semi-automatic handguns walked into the Subway at 2217 Sutherland Avenue on Wednesday. The suspects grabbed the cash drawer from the register and fled the store on foot.

Officials believe all three men were in their 20s, with heights ranging from 5'8" to 6 feet. All were wearing bandanas at the time of the robbery.

Job seekers can meet with employers and learn more ways to land a career at an event in west Knoxville Tuesday morning.

The Knoxville Leadership Foundation is hosting a community job fair and motivational seminar at Cedar Springs Presbyterian Church's The Watershed at 9132 Kingston Pike. The event starts at 8 a.m. and ends at noon.

Several motivational speakers will give advice about the job market and provide creative ways to land a career. More than 30 local employers will be on hand to accept resumes and answer questions.

Crews evacuated A.L. Lotts Thursday morning because of a blown light fixture in the hallway.

Rural Metro sent several fire trucks to the school. Crews confirmed that the situation is under control. Firefighters said the kids were out of the school for about 10 minutes and then went into the gym.


Man bails out of car during car chase with state trooper


Law enforcement is searching for a suspect who bailed out of his car Monday during a car chase with a state trooper in west Knox County.

Officials said the man is wanted by the Loudon County Sheriff's Office. Authorities don't have a detailed description of the suspect at this time, according to Tennessee Highway Patrol Lt. Don Boshears.

Overnight apartment fire in west Knoxville displaces family


Knoxville firefighters said faulty wiring is to blame for a Monday morning apartment fire.

Firefighters responded to the Greenbrier Ridge Apartments at about 2:45 a.m. Monday.

When crews arrived they found flames inside a wall in one of the apartments. Firefighters quickly got the fire under control and extinguish the flames.

There was one family living in the apartment, and officials said they have another place to stay.
