Whole Foods set to open March 24
News

After months of anticipation, we now know when Whole Foods plans to open.

Whole Foods Market announced that its first store in Knoxville will open March 24. For months, the 35,000 square-foot store has been under construction in Papermill Place at 6730 Papermill Drive.

Whole Foods specializes in organic foods, and is a shopping option many locals have been waiting for since we first reported the store was coming to town in 2011, but the date has been delayed numerous times. The new store will employ about 200 people.

Shoppers can get a sneak peak at what's inside during 45-minute tours March 20 and 21. You must register online to sign up for the tour available at 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. both days. People are encouraged to donate $5 to local nonprofit Second Harvest Food Bank of East Tennessee. Donations will be accepted at the door.
