West Knox Co. bridge dedicated to fallen pilot

A west Knox County bridge now has a new name.

The bridge at the intersection of I-140 and Westland Drive is now named after a Tennessee National Guard pilot who died in a helicopter crash in 2011.

Chief Warrant Officer Daniel Cole and First Lieutenant Thomas Williams crashed during routine military training over Campbell County.

Thursday morning, Major General Max Haston dedicated a bridge near Cole's home. Haston said officials will dedicate another bridge in Thomas's honor in the weeks to come.

Cole worked at the McGhee Tyson Air National Guard base.
