McKamey Road reopens
News

A west Knoxville road is back open.

McKamey Road reopened to traffic from Ball Camp Pike to Western Avenue with a new addition: a right turn lane.

The stretch of road has been closed for the past several weeks as part of an ongoing Tennessee Department of Transportation project to widen Western Avenue.

Now that McKamey is back open, TDOT will once again shut down a nearby section of Ball Camp Pike between Dewine Street and Matlock Road to finish work in that area. The closure begins Monday, Nov. 3.

Traffic on Dewine Street will be ale to access Western Avenue by turning right on Ball Camp Pike. Drivers on Matlock Road will only be able to turn left on Ball Camp Pike to access McKamey Road and Western Avenue.

The intersection of Sullivan Road and Western Avenue will be closed on Wednesday, Nov. 5, while the contractor works to realign it. Drivers on Sullivan Road will have to take Palmetto Road or Ball Camp Pike to reach Western Avenue.

TDOT hopes to have the Western Avenue project completed in April 2015. For the latest updates on the work, visit TDOT's website.
