The landscape in west Knoxville is changing and the new additions to the skyline include a series of hotels.

Three hotel projects are expected to wrap up in early 2015. One near Papermill, another on Parkside Drive, and a third in Farragut.

The Hampton Inn will have 109 rooms and has been a project 3 years in the making.

A spokesperson said during construction they have 40 to 50 workers on site every day.

Jill Thompson with the Great Knoxville Hospitality Association said the city's proximity to other cities and attractions will keep the hotel and others like it busy year round.

"You can stay here and drive for maybe an hour and it's a beautiful drive in any direction, do what you want to do and come back," she said.

The Staybridge project coming to Farragut and the Home to Suites on Parkside drive are both new to Knoxville.

Jenkins and Stiles President Bart Jenkins said the hotel is in a good location - it's close to the interstate and Turkey Creek.

Thompson said there's hard numbers showing investors why Knoxville is the place to build. One way they do it is by measuring revenue for available room, or RevPAR, which shows how much money is being made off open rooms.

"Our RevPAR was up 14% in July and 15% this August and year to date we're showing a 5.7% increase, so that's very attractive to investors to this area," Thompson said.

Knoxville also has a few natural factors that capture the attention of people looking to move like climate and higher education, she said when people invest their lives here they'll need hotels to support them.

"So when they move here they've got family and friends visiting, plus they're opening their own businesses and will need space to support them."

Thompson said these hotels will bring a variety of jobs once they're completed. Everything from desk workers to cleaning staff - she says that means a minimum of 20 to 25 employees at each location.
