Local teens and parents gather at West Town Mall for driving safety event

State Farm Insurance and local community leaders joined hundreds of areas in North America on Saturday encouraging teens to be safe drivers.

Saturday afternoon, local teens and their parents gathered at West Town Mall from 9 a.m. until noon. Knoxville was one of 300 events organized by State Farm occurring simultaneously across the U.S. and Canada.

The event kicked off State Farm's "Celebrate My Drive" campaign. The company hopes this initiative will provide a new approach of teaching the importance of safe driving for teens.

She moved to Knoxville from Seattle about a year ago. That's where she first tried hot yoga.

Flu season is just around the corner, and already drug stores and doctor's offices have supplies of this year's vaccine.

The shots will be available to patients by the end of the month.

But if you get your shot now, will you be protected all season? The Centers for Disease Control says "yes."

The CDC recommends that people get their shots as soon as possible. It suggests everyone from six months old and older get a yearly vaccine.

One local flu shot clinic opens Tuesday.
