People walk to fight against ALS

People walked to fight against the ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease, at Farragut High School on Saturday morning.

The Knoxville Walk to Defeat ALS" benefited the Tennessee chapter of the ALS Association. This group's efforts include buying wheelchairs, communication devices and funding critical research.

Eight hundred people walked to support the group and its effort this morning.

Another Fall festival is upon us in Karns. TRAK Fall Festival at Doc Butler's farm. TRAK stands for Theraputic Riding Academy Of Knoxville.

My family and I have been to this event the past few years and have really enjoyed ourselves. The event is Sunday Oct. 14th from 3:00 - 6:00pm. The address is 7316 West Emory Road Knoxville, TN 37931. Phone # 865-221-6231.

Festivites listed include: Live Demostration, Mayor Tim Burchett, Live Band, Pony Drop, Pony Rides, Door Prizes, Raffle Items and food/refreshments.

Karns Elementary aims to break world record at read-in

Governor Bill Haslam's wife Crissy will be at Karns Elementary on Tuesday morning trying to help the school break a world record.

Students will pack the house and try to set a record for the number of people attending a read-in event. Several guest readers are expected to attend.

The read-in begins shortly after 8 a.m.
