KPD hosting Bike Safety Fair this weekend

From the Knoxville Police Department:

Fall is a wonderful time of year to go bicycling.  The Knoxville Police Department wants all cyclists, particularly children, to stay safe while enjoying this sport.  That's why we (KPD) are conducting our annual fall Safety Fair at Safety City on Saturday, September 29, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.  Families are encouraged to come out to learn about pedestrian and bicycle safety.

Children attending the bike fair must be accompanied by an adult and should bring a bicycle and helmet.  If children do not have a helmet the Knoxville Police Department will loan them one for the event.

Bicycles and helmets are checked for safety and proper fit.  Minor repairs will be made, if necessary.  Participants will test their skills at five different skill stations, such as Dodge 'Em Drive, which teaches them the how to avoid obstacles in the road or open car doors.  In addition to the safety skill stations, children will receive wallet-sized photo identification cards, safety information and a light snack.

This FREE event is open to people of all ages.
