West Hills Tennis Center opens its newest addition

The West Hill Tennis Center opened it newest 1,400 square foot addition on Monday.

The center held an open house for its brand new clubhouse. This facility will house tennis programming, concessions and public restrooms.

The clubhouse is the second part of a four-phase master plan for West Hills Tennis Center. The center renovated its eight upper courts in November. Phase three will add five more courts to the lower portion of that complex.

Knoxville City Mayor Madeline Rogero said these improvements will help promote Knoxville.

"It puts us on the map," said Mayor Rogero. "It helps as we expend the number of courts and have this clubhouse, then it allows us to attract regional and national tournaments to Knoxville, which also means tourism dollars."

In conjunction with the Tyson Family Tennis Center, the West Hills Tennis Center will host the adult state championships in June.

The Greater Knoxville Tennis Association expect the event to bring in about $16,000 people over two weekends.
