It’s Secret City Festival time again in Oak Ridge! The bands have been selected, the schedule is filling up, and tickets to this year’s headliner concerts go on sale Monday, May 6.  Tickets are priced at an early bird rate of $17. After June 7, ticket prices go up to $20.
Knoxville-native rock ‘n’ roll band The Dirty Guv’nahs will bring their signature sound to the UCOR Concert Stage Friday, June 21, at 7 p.m.  Known for their fresh, foot-stomping approach to American rock, the band’s 2012 studio album Somewhere Beneath These Southern Skies has gained praise throughout the country, showcasing an energetic blend of rock and soul interwoven with a distinctive modern edge.  The Friday Night concert, sponsored by Lamar Dunn and Associates (LDA Engineering), also features local band, Soul Candy and The Traffic Jam.
Pop-Rock music icon, Rick Springfield, will close out the festival by bringing his unstoppable energy and unforgettable songs, which have provided the soundtrack for many generations, to the UCOR Concert Stage Saturday, June 22 at 7:00 p.m.  Sponsored by CROET & Pro2Serve, the Saturday Night concert will also feature Casey Abrams from American Idol as the opening act.
Rick Springfield has sold 25 million albums worldwide, including 17 top-40 hits, such as Don’t Talk to Strangers, An Affair of the Heart, I've Done Everything for You, Love Somebody, and Human Touch, as well as earning a 1981 Grammy® for Best Male Rock Vocal for his No. 1 single hit Jessie’s Girl.  His passion for writing and performing songs, as well as playing guitar, comes through loud and clear on his new album, Songs for the End of the World, which features bonus digital content available through a specialized app, fan vocals and a special 30-minute audio collection.
“We decided to branch out this year and get bands from different genres so we could promote to very diverse demographics,” Montgomery explained.  “Our goal is to host a festival that has entertainment everyone will enjoy, and by choosing The Dirty Guv’nahs and Rick Springfield as our headliners, I think we’ve done that again this year.”
Concert tickets may be purchased online at www.SecretCityFestival.com, in person at the Oak Ridge Civic Center or by calling the ticket line at 865-482-4432.
The 11th annual Secret City Festival is presented by the City of Oak Ridge, the Oak Ridge Convention & Visitors Bureau, and the Arts Council of Oak Ridge.  The festival features WWII displays and memorabilia, special events at the American Museum of Science and Energy, a children’s area, arts and crafts vendors, and the Living History demonstration, “A Salute to Soldiers”.
