Police standoff ends peacefully at Knoxville apt. complex

A police standoff that included a SWAT team and negotiators and led to the shutdown of a Knoxville thoroughfare ended peacefully late Tuesday night about an hour and a half after it began, Knoxville police said.

Around 10:00 p.m., a woman called 911 from the Big Oak Apartments on Middlebrook Pike near I-640 and said her ex-boyfriend, Christopher Lyons, was outside her apartment.

Investigators said the woman had two small children inside with her, including one fathered by the suspect.

This year's flu shots becoming available

This year's flu shots becoming available

Flu season is just around the corner, and already drug stores and doctor's offices have supplies of this year's vaccine.

The shots will be available to patients by the end of the month.

But if you get your shot now, will you be protected all season? The Centers for Disease Control says "yes."

The CDC recommends that people get their shots as soon as possible. It suggests everyone from six months old and older get a yearly vaccine.

One local flu shot clinic opens Tuesday.

SNL's "The Ladies Man" saunters into Knoxville

SNL's "The Ladies Man" saunters into Knoxville

Tim Meadows was a skit staple on Saturday Night Live for years. One of his characters was Leon Phelps, The Ladies Man, and this is where the headline comes from.

It is also the voice that I use A LOT around the newsroom. Even Photographer JJ was nice enough to inform Meadows of this.

If you are not an SNL fan, you may have seen him in some movies and on TV, he has a bunch of reoccurring roles on sitcoms.
