18-wheeler overturns on Lovell Road


(WBIR) An 18-wheeler overturned on Lovell Road just before noon on Friday.

The tractor-trailer is lying on its side on the sidewalk of the southbound shoulder of Lovell Road just north of Outlet Drive. The road isn't blocked and traffic is still moving.

Officials on-scene said the driver went to the University of Tennessee Medical Center. The Knox County Sheriff's Office is working the scene.

New Knoxville sports bar will have charitable opening


A new sports bar that will soon open in East Tennessee is working to raise money for charity.

Carolina Ale House will open at the corner of Cedar Bluff Road and Kingston Pike in West Knoxville on August 4th.

During its first week of sales, the restaurant will donate 10% of its sales to Junior Achievement of East Tennessee.

This will be Carolina Ale's first location in Tennessee.

Also in the new shopping complex is CVS pharmacy, Hardee's, Bojangles, and other restaurants.

Demolition begins on Lakeshore property


Demolition crews started bringing down the walls on a piece of East Tennessee history on Wednesday.

The city is tearing down nine of the large buildings at the former Lakeshore Mental Health Institute and turning the entire site into park land.

Construction will start soon on new Karns Senior Center


(WBIR, Knoxville) - Construction will start soon on a new senior center in Knox County.

Wednesday morning local officials gathered in the Karns community to break ground on the new facility. It will be located at the Knox County Sportspark property on Oak Ridge Highway.

The new senior center will have an outdoor kitchen and plenty of indoor space for meetings, crafts and other activities.
