Progress made to lease Eugenia Williams house

In the next couple weeks, university leaders say the historic and vacant Eugenia Williams house could see some progress.

The house located off Lyons View Pike has sat empty since Williams donated it in 1998.

The university has been in the process of trying to find a long-term renter they hope will maintain and restore it. UT President Joe DiPietro approved the plan in June.

Pantsless woman charged with DUI after West Knoxville crash injures 2

A woman suspected of driving drunk hit and injured two people in another car in West Knoxville Monday night.

Police arrested and charged Candice Taylor with DUI after they say she hit another car at Middlebrook Pike and Piney Grove Road. A witness told police she was wearing nothing but a tank top.

The driver and passenger in the car Taylor hit were both injured and taken to UT Medical Center by ambulance.

There is no word on their conditions.

West Knoxville crash critically injures motorcyclist

A crash in west Knoxville sent a motorcyclist to the University of Tennessee Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

Knoxville police said as a car turned onto Montvue Road from West Town Mall late Monday night, a speeding motorcycle topped the hill, went down on its side, and hit the rear of the car.

The motorcyclist, 23-year-old Etimlin Phillips, was driving on a suspended license, according to the Knoxville police. Phillips suffered critical injuries, but the driver of the car was unharmed.

Man killed when car fell on him

A man who was working on a car died Monday afternoon when the car fell on him, according to the Knox County Sheriff's Office.

The call came in just after noon Monday afternoon at a home on Gila Trail in West Knox County.

Deputies say it appears one of the jacks holding up the car slipped while the man was working underneath it. They do not suspect foul play at this time.

The man was pronounced dead on the scene.

His name will be released once his family has been notified.

Hit-and-run suspect crashes motorcycle

Crews took a hit-and-run suspect to the hospital after he crashed his motorcycle during a police pursuit in west Knox County Friday morning.

Oak Ridge police told Knox County deputies to be on the lookout for James F. Mitchell, 43, of Oak Ridge. A deputy saw Mitchell traveling on West Emory Road shortly after 7:40 a.m. When the officer got behind the suspect's motorcycle and activated his lights, Mitchell took a curve too quickly, ran off the side of the road into a ditch. He was thrown from his motorcycle.

Pinterest comes to life at Hunter Valley Farm

An event in west Knox County will give brides a chance to get planning ideas ahead of their big days.

Hunter Valley Farm is hosting an open house Monday from 5 p.m. - 8 p.m. At the free event, people can see dozens of designs and also try some local caterers.

Nancy Barger, Hunter Valley Farm owner, said she hopes the event brings Pinterest to life.
